A feature of the private residence currently under construction is the sandstone entry pediment. The stone was locally quarried in Butler County ten miles from the site. Following the architect’s detailed drawings the blocks and thick stone slabs were cut and shaped by English stone carver Chris Pascoe. The finished pieces were then dry fit in the shop to check for accuracy before being delivered to the job site. The base stones are solid blocks of sandstone each weighing nearly a ton each. The blocks were stacked one on top of another followed by the entablature beams and frieze panels which are all self supported. Once the cornice and solid kneeler stones were set the pediment face was laid up. Special care was taken when fitting the panels around the oculus window and the voissoirs across the top. The completed pediment is an impressive and distinctive feature of the building.
